ADVENTURE TRIPS

Welcome to Edwards Tripping

The Edwards' Trips Program has been leading youth and teenagers in exciting adventures since 1960.  The adventure trips at Edwards are designed for campers of all ages and abilities. Edwards provides canoes, kayaks, paddles, personal flotation devices, and camping equipment.

For the adventurous camper who wants to experience a true outdoor challenge, Edwards YMCA Camp offers three trip programs.  All trips are led by staff trained and experienced in the area of adventure tripping to ensure the safety of all campers.  Campers will learn about tent camping from setting up tents to cooking over a fire.  Camp provides all equipment except for personal items and sleeping bags.

  Missouri Cave Adventure

What is 56 degrees all year long?  An amazing network of caves in southern Missouri is waiting for your exploration.  Thanks to a partnership with YMCA Camp Lakewood in Potosi, Missouri, campers will make base camp at their facility and then experience day trips to local caves where Edwards experienced and trained staff will lead campers in some underground adventures.  Campers will learn about cave ecology and safe caving practices.

Rock Climbing Extravaganza

Like to Climb?  Want to learn more?  This trip is for you.  The trip begins at Edwards 35 ft. climbing wall where campers will learn the basics of climbing and rappelling.  Campers will then head out to Devil’s Lake State Park for 3 days of rock climbing, bouldering, hiking, swimming, and more.  Under the watchful eye of Edwards trained and experienced adventure staff, campers will challenge the rugged cliffs of Devil’s Lake and become a more experienced climber.

Water Adventures - Canoeing & Rafting

Seeking a more extreme adventure?  This trip begins at Edwards where campers will learn the basics of canoeing and how to read rivers.  Then it is off to northern Wisconsin for three days of canoeing on the Brule River and one day of Whitewater Rafting on the Peshtigo River.  Campers will have a blast riding the rapids, paddling through beautiful country, navigating rivers, making new friends, and more.  Camp Edwards staff is well-trained and experienced in river navigation to help campers have a safe and fun water experience.
